  3. There are supplementary fees where the premises sell alcohol; these fees may vary according to the application. There are also multipliers for very large premises that exclusively sell alcohol as their primary business use.
  4. No fee is chargeable for schools, community centres and village halls.

1. There are no fees payable for any deceased child under the age of eighteen. The Children's Funeral Fund covers this expenditure upon a claim from the council.
2. Refund is issued less admin fee and years lapsed.
3. Treble fees are payable in respect of all non-Arun district residents who have not resided in the district for two years or more.
4. The exclusive right of burial and the exclusive right to erect a memorial shall be purchased together at the same time.

The fee structure is based on the number of occupants regardless of property type (for example, shared houses, bedsit-type shared houses or bedsits) with a base fee for five-person occupancy and then an additional fee per person above five.

If there is a fully self-contained let within the house (all amenities are within the letting for exclusive use by that room) no fee is payable for that let.

The licence fee is split into two parts:

Part 1. Application fee payable upon submission of the application. (Note that this fee is non-refundable whether a licence is successfully granted or not or if the applicant withdraws the application after submission).

Part 2. Issue fee payable upon the successful completion of the Consultation Period and prior to the full HMO Licence being granted. This fee must be paid prior to the Licence being granted and issued and failure to pay it will result in the Licence not being issued and leaving the property unlicensed. Unlicensed properties are liable to legal enforcement action.

Code M05-950-HMOA

The fee structure is based on the number of occupants and/or property type; i.e. house or flat, Section 257 Building or Converted Building - Mixed Use.

The licence fee is split into two parts:

Part 1. Application fee payable upon submission of the application. (Note that this fee is non-refundable whether a licence is successfully granted or not or if the applicant withdraws the application after submission).

Part 2. Issue fee payable upon the successful completion of the Consultation Period and prior to the full HMO Licence being granted. This fee must be paid prior to the Licence being granted and issued and failure to pay it will result in the Licence not being issued and leaving the property unlicensed. Unlicensed properties are liable to legal enforcement action.

There are no reductions in the cost of obtaining an Additional HMO Licensing Scheme licence if it is for a shorter period than the maximum five-year period allowed. Should the Additional HMO Licensing scheme be discontinued before the initial five-year period expires (from commencement of the scheme) no refund on licence fees is applicable. All licences that have an expiry date that is after the initial five-year period ends will be valid until the expiry date on the licence if the scheme continues/a new scheme is implemented beyond the initial five-year period. If the scheme is renewed/a new scheme is implemented after the initial five-year period (from commencement of the scheme) and the initial licence expires, a new licence will be required. 

Penalties are also payable if it is discovered that a property should have been licensed under the mandatory HMO Licensing regime, and licences may be issued for a shorter period than the maximum allowed.

Note: All fees and charges are liable to an increase every April at the commencement of the new Financial Year.
