Planning Performance Agreement Protocol
PPAs are a tool for project managing large or complex development projects. They are a voluntary agreement that both the applicant and our planning department agree to.
We use them to:
- encourage joint and flexible working
- outline key dates in the planning process
- set a target decision date
- involve other parties including statutory consultees and key partners
The benefits of a PPA include:
- identifying key issues early on
- better management of advice and post application stages
- more realistic and reliable timetables
- collaborative working between stakeholders
- better communication, accountability and transparency
A PPA does not give a guarantee that we will grant an application planning permission. Their aim is to supply a more efficient way of working.
