Planning Performance Agreement Protocol

PPAs are a tool for project managing large or complex development projects. They are a voluntary agreement that both the applicant and our planning department agree to.

We use them to:

  • encourage joint and flexible working
  • outline key dates in the planning process
  • set a target decision date
  • involve other parties including statutory consultees and key partners

The benefits of a PPA include:

  • identifying key issues early on
  • better management of advice and post application stages
  • more realistic and reliable timetables
  • collaborative working between stakeholders
  • better communication, accountability and transparency

A PPA does not give a guarantee that we will grant an application planning permission. Their aim is to supply a more efficient way of working.
