Pay your business rates

Direct Debit:

The easiest, quickest and safest way to pay is by Direct Debit. You just need to give us your details once and that's it.

If there are less than 16 days before the instalment date you have requested, then the first payment by Direct Debit may be taken the following month.

If you do not want to set up a Direct Debit now you can make your payment online.

  • your 10-digit business rate account number (starting with 88)

Pay in person:

If you receive a paper bill you can use the barcode at the bottom of the bill to make payments free of charge at any shop displaying PayPoint symbol or at any Post Office in the UK. The shop or Post Office will scan the barcode and ask you how much you want to pay. You should get a receipt for your records.

Change your payment date or extend payments

You can opt to extend your instalments to March or change your payment date. This will not change the total amount you have to pay; it just makes each instalment less.

Request a refund

If you want your business rate refund paid into the company account, then you need to give us your bank account details by selecting the green button and following the onscreen instructions.

Alternatively if you want the refund to be credited to another bank account then complete the refund claim form [pdf] 77KB and get all the liable parties to sign.
