One of the most common wildflowers across the UK, daisies are a food source for bumblebees, honeybees and hoverflies.
The name ‘daisy’ comes from ‘day’s eye’ referring to the flower opening during the day, and closing at night.
Loved by children as well as insects, in Scotland and the north of England daisies are called ‘bairnswort’ in recognition of how irresistible the flowers are to little hands. Read more here: Bellis perennis - Wikipedia
