Common bird’s foot trefoil Our wild thing of the week is the wildflower common bird’s foot trefoil! 

Known by many strange names, from ‘eggs and bacon’ and hens and chickens’, to the least appealing ‘Granny’s toenails’! 

Common bird’s foot has yellow flowers which are followed by seed clusters that look like birds feet. It is widespread  across the UK and can be found in a variety of places including grasslands and coastal areas. It is an important food source for pollinators and several caterpillar species.
