'Warm Spaces'

Many of the Warm Spaces that supported residents through the winter are set to stay open through Spring and beyond The feedback received from attendees is not just that they have provided a place to keep warm and seek advice but that they have also been good in helping tackle loneliness or ‘keeping in touch’ -  as due to the cost of living many people no longer go on their weekly trip into town for a coffee or shopping with friends or family. It’s hoped these ‘spring spaces ‘can help fill that gap. Please look out for your local space.

Arun 'Warm Spaces' small grants fund

We supported many 'Warm Spaces' in Arun last year, to help residents keep warm throughout the winter. Feedback from attendees is that these spaces not only provided a place to keep warm and seek advice but that they also prevented loneliness or were a place to ‘just to keep in touch’. The cost of living crisis has meant that many people have felt more isolated from social interaction and these spaces keep people connected.

We are inviting local community organisations to apply to host a 'Warm Space' this winter. 'Warm Spaces' are somewhere you can go to get and stay warm whilst enjoying some company. Some spaces also provide refreshments, an opportunity to take part in activities, and help with advice/signposting to local services.

If your organisation would like to apply to host a Warm Space this winter, please contact our communities and wellbeing team for guidance and an application form.

The closing date for applications is Friday 24 November. Once the applications have been reviewed, the approved warm spaces will be advertised on this page and advertised locally.
