University submits plans for Engineering and Digital Technology Park

Arun District Council has received a planning application from the University of Chichester to build an engineering and digital technology park in Bognor Regis.
The university is also seeking planning permission for the construction of the first phase of student accommodation, car parking spaces and access from Felpham Way.
The five storey engineering and digital technology building will see the university’s Digital Technology and Engineering department move to the site, which if permission is granted, will be located on the corner of Felpham Way and Upper Bognor Road.
The application proposes that the building will be built with dark grey brick with gold coloured metal panels and the design will be modern and angular.
A second building which will provide student accommodation is being proposed. The six storey building will provide 171 bedrooms and, if planning permission is granted, it will be built to the north of the proposed teaching block.
The site where the application has been submitted has been identified in the Arun Local Plan since 2003 as an area of expansion for the university. The site also shares a border with the Upper Bognor Conservation Area and is close to listed buildings.
The application will be advertised in the press on Thursday, 17 March and the public are invited to make comments until Thursday, 7 April.
