Today is Earth Day 2023

Today, 22 April 2023 marks Earth Day. We are committed to reducing our emissions and becoming carbon neutral by 2030. This ambitious target is 20 years ahead of central government requirements.

A lot is going on within the council to reduce our environmental impact, such as undertaking carbon literacy training. We have recently become a Bronze Certified Council which is the first step in our journey. This training helps officers become more aware of our impacts on the environment and aims to inform them of the best ways to reduce emission production in their everyday lives, both at work and at home.

We are also doing lots of work around our green spaces. Our teams are continually pushing towards increasing the wildflower meadows within Arun, as well as planting more trees and increasing our tree canopy coverage. Both play a vital part in supporting and protecting nature and biodiversity within the district. These are just two projects that are currently going on, if you would like to know more, check out our climate change webpage
