The regeneration plans for new homes and retail space at The Arcade, Bognor Regis, continue at pace. Site investigation work and surveys, which inform the project team of the current condition of the building, are now complete.

The project has benefited from an award of £628,000 by the Government’s Brownfield Land Release Fund. This funding, secured by Arun District Council, will be used for initial enabling work to make the building ready for follow on regeneration works (subject to planning permission). The council has now appointed a contractor to undertake these enabling works, which will start from Monday 13 May. On a practical note, during this week, scaffolding will be erected to the High Street, York Road and Belmont Street elevations. This is estimated to be for a period of 20 weeks.

Work is also progressing on the regeneration plans. We plan to engage and consult with the local community on our proposals prior to submitting a planning application later this year.
