The Arcade, Bognor Regis - August update | Latest news

Work at The Arcade in Bognor Regis is continuing in preparation for the exciting regeneration proposals scheduled for consultation later this year. This preparatory work is expected to continue until Autumn 2024.

The works to prepare The Arcade comprise a range of specific improvements, including:

• erecting scaffolding to the buildings on York Road to undertake roof and window repairs and masonry/brickwork cleaning and repair
• removing internal floor finishes, ceilings and old room partitions within the vacant upper floors of The Arcade  
• filling in internal door and window spaces that are no longer needed
• stripping out old flooring, doors and furniture
• installing new floors to prepare the building for conversion to residential use
• internal demolition works on both the west and east wings, which are ongoing

Arun District Council plans to engage with the community later this year. They want to know what the public think about the proposed regeneration plans, which include new residential and retail spaces.

The plans will be subject to a planning application to be submitted later in 2024.
