The Annual Canvass for electoral registration is underway!
Arun District Council has begun the Annual Canvass process and you may soon receive an important a letter through your door.
This year we’re doing things a little differently. To start the process we will be sending letters to around 12,500 households over the next month and if you receive one of these letters you need to respond to it by 31 July 2022. This is so we can make sure we have the correct information about who lives at your address at the present time. It is a legal obligation to respond. The letter contains clear instructions about what you need to do.
If you don’t receive one of these letters in July, then we will be in touch in September instead, either by email or by letter, and we will share more information about that nearer the time

Registration Officer for the district, said: “In 2020 we adopted a new way of running the Annual Canvass and we have built on our experiences to improve the process this year. It is important to read the letters or emails we send very carefully – these will tell you what you need to do.
“It is also important that you do not register to vote if you have already registered. If your name is on the letter you receive, then you are on the electoral register. If you’re not registered, your name will not appear on the letter. Then the easiest way to register is online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or we can send you information in the post explaining how to do this..”
