Support for Macmillan surpasses expectations

Arun District Council smashed their fundraising record for Macmillan!
On Wednesday 28 September, staff fundraising team IGNITE, supported by officers, councillors and local businesses, hosted an event in line with the Macmillan Coffee morning initiative to raise as much as they could for this charity. Proceeds from the coffee mornings totalled a staggering £1273, in addition to the £600 raised by Cllr Stephen Haymes by his ‘Brave the Shave’ haircut for Macmillan back on 19 August.
The Macmillan coffee morning is an annual event for all at Arun District Council, both at the civic centre in Littlehampton and at Bognor Regis Town Hall. The cake stall, tombola, competitions, pic ‘n’ mix and raffle were a great hit, as was the cake competition!
Support from local business was greatly appreciated with raffle prizes donated by the Alexandra Theatre, Angel White Hair & Beauty, Carte Blanche, Clipper Street Barbers, Coco Loco, Denny’s Den, Edgcumbes Coffee & Tea producers, Felix Dancewear, Grades Barbers, Littlehampton Squash and badminton Club, Littlehampton Look and Sea centre, Sainsburys and Tesco. Edgcumbes brought some of their excellent tea and coffee to the coffee morning and served visitors a drink to have with their cake.
Chairman of Arun District Council, Cllr Stephen Haymes said, ‘I am delighted that Arun District Council officers and councillors have supported Macmillan so whole heartedly whether by attending the coffee morning or by pledging money for me to shave my head as part of the Brave the Shave for Macmillan campaign.
“£1873 is a fantastic total and would not have been achieved without the hard work of the staff and the generosity of the many local business that made contributions.”
