Statement following Full Council meeting – Bognor Regis Town Hall services

We can confirm that Bognor Regis Town Hall is open for business as usual and there are no plans to change the situation. Residents can enter the building and talk, face to face, to members of staff. If the member of staff can resolve the enquiry immediately, they will. If not, they will be able to make an appointment for the member of the public to talk to the relevant officer if the service area has been set up to make appointments. If not, the advisor will take a message and email the relevant officer/service area and ask them to contact the customer.

From Bognor Regis Town Hall the public can access the following services face to face:

  • Revenues and Benefits – basic enquiries
  • Housing Options Team for homelessness customers
  • provide contact information for housing tenants wishing to report a housing repair or arrange a call back
  • taxi drivers can collect and drop badges, plates etc.
  • environmental health concerns can be logged by advisors
  • car park enquiries, where customers will be assisted with self-serve now that permits are ‘virtual’
  • signposting to WSCC for bus passes and blue badges and Highways etc.
  • signposting for all non-related council enquiries
  • pension signing service
  • advisors can take payments for housing rent, Fixed Penalty Notices, Penalty Charge Notices (where customers are unable to self-serve)
  • take documents in for scanning
  • post in for all departments
  • receive returned Lifeline equipment
  • face to face reports for cleansing e.g. fly-tipping, missed bins etc.
  • parks enquiries
  • cemetery enquiries
  • signposting to CAB VAAC and external agencies
  • follow keys in and keys out procedure for housing neighbourhood services
  • election enquiries

Where any of the above are available online – we provide ‘assisted self-serve’ to educate customers so they may be able to help themselves the next time.

All other services can be accessed via appointment, face to face, over the telephone or by live chat.

This statement arises following a meeting of the full council on 18 January, when a petition was presented asking the council to save services at Bognor Regis Town Hall.

It was agreed that a statement is issued to reassure residents that the council will continue to provide face to face services at the Bognor Regis Town Hall for the foreseeable future along with a list of all of the service that can be accessed face to face.
