Severe Weather Emergency Protocol activated 15 July

Severe Weather Emergency Protocol Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) has been activated in Arun due to the severe weather warnings for extreme heat over the next few days. Anyone who is rough sleeping will have access to water, sunscreen and advice on where to shelter in the extreme heat.

If anyone would like to access this support they can attend Turning Tides hub in Littlehampton on Sunday between 11:00 and 15:00 for shelter from the heat as well as water and sunscreen and additional advice. Unfortunately we are unable to extend our hub opening hours in Bognor Regis over the weekend. However, should anyone in the Bognor area need urgent assistance please contact Stonepillow’s out of hours service on 01243 214058 for advice and signposting or emergency food parcels.

Our partner agencies and outreach teams will also be carrying out additional welfare checks on clients and will also be able to provide water and sunscreen where needed.

If you see a rough sleeper please report this to our outreach team by submitting a SteetLink referral https://www.streetlink.org.uk/#– all referrals will be followed up by our the team who can then offer the appropriate support.
