Parking disc scheme costs – what do you think?

Image: a mobile phone with MI permit map on the screen on the left and on the right, two parking discsAfter seven months of the new parking disc scheme arrangements in Littlehampton and Bognor Regis, we are keen to know what you think about the annual charge.

Arun District Council currently operates two separate town centre parking schemes - one in Littlehampton and the other in Bognor Regis.

The arrangements for the discs changed to a new scheme in January, with a virtual parking disc available via app being introduced, as well as the physical disc.

The future of the schemes is set to be presented to the Environment Committee for consideration in September this year, so we would like to hear your views on the pricing.

As part of the review it is proposed that we combine the two separate schemes into one to give customers the freedom to park in either town centre using one disc. Under the proposal, discs will continue to be available as either a virtual (app based) disc, or a physical disc. The proposed disc would apply to the same six car parks as the existing schemes.

It is proposed that the virtual disc be available at a lower price than the physical disc to reflect its lower administration costs.

Cllr Sue Wallsgrove, Environment Committee Chair said:

“Being able to buy a parking disc for a one-off fee, and then use the participating car parks for no extra charge is rare, not many areas offer this, and it enables visitors and residents to visit our towns without parking expenses. This is a topic that creates lots of chatter so we would love to hear from you by completing the questionnaire.”
