Men's Health Week - Cllr. Dr James Walsh

Dr James Walsh

Men’s Health Week took place between 14 – 20 June, but we’re focusing on it this week as we brought you This Girl Can Week last week. We’re sure you’ll all agree discussions about Men’s Health are important and shouldn’t be limited to just one week. Throughout the week we will be sharing stories from our male Councillors. Today we hear from Cllr. Dr James Walsh.

"Men are often reluctant to consult their GP over what they perceive to be minor issues, or a non-problem, often stemming from an over- macho view of themselves or not wanting to bother their doctor.

There is also sometimes an embarrassment factor over prostate or bladder problems, which really shouldn’t be so today, and most tests are really simple and straightforward.

I would encourage men of any age, who have urinary symptoms (discomfort, frequency or blood),  prostate or erectile problems, rectal bleeding, or unusual skin changes to consult their GP. Early diagnosis and treatment is always the key to the best outcome.

Don’t delay…..do it today!"
