Men's Health Week - Cllr. Billy Blanchard-Cooper

Men’s Health Week took place between 14 – 20 June, but we’re focusing on it this week as we brought you This Girl Can Week last week. We’re sure you’ll all agree discussions about Men’s Health are important and shouldn’t be limited to just one week. Throughout the week we will be sharing stories from our male Councillors. Today we hear from Cllr. Billy Blanchard-Cooper.
"As some of you will know last year I lost my husband quite unexpectedly and this did, and continues to have an understandable impact on my mental health. I have found and continue to seek help through various organisations as well as my Doctor to help me come to terms with this loss, which I felt was made harder having to be alone at that time as he passed away just at the start of the first lockdown.
We all experience loss within our lives and I would say the biggest thing for me has been making sure I talk about how I’m feeling and taking up offers of support. Try not to bottle those feelings up as they do come out in different ways as I have experienced.
Grief is a personal passage but do seek the help that's right for you, you are not alone."
