Make life a beach on the beach this summer!

With summer just round the corner what better way is there to spend the warmer days than building sandcastles on the beach?

Lucky children in Bognor Regis were able to do just that when they visited the purpose built sand play area called the Beach on the Beach on Monday, 1 June.

What’s more the sand has been specially chosen to make the best sandcastles whilst remaining clean and safe to play with.

Little ones from Stepping Stones Nursery tested out the Beach on the Beach for themselves where they made beautiful sandcastles and enjoyed a day out on the famous seafront.

Councillor Mrs Gillian Brown, Leader of Arun District Council and Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration, said: “The Beach on the Beach is a real addition to the Bognor Regis seafront.

“I hope young children from all over the town, the Arun District and beyond get to enjoy this new attraction.

“The Beach on the Beach has already been well used and I hope with the warmer weather on the way it will go from strength to strength.”

The sand play area is enclosed by a low fence which acts both as a wind break and keeps children safe.

The Beach on the Beach is a one year pilot project which will be reviewed at the end of the summer season. If the trial project is successful the sand play area will be covered over during the winter, ready for reuse the following year.

Arun District Council held a special event between 1pm and 2pm on Monday, 1 June to encourage as many families as possible to persuade their children to use the sand play area.

If you would like to use the Beach on the Beach for yourself it is located next to the promenade to the west of the Bullnose opposite Place St Maur.

The Beach on the Beach opened on 3 April in time for the Easter holidays.
