Local Elections are just two weeks away – are you ready to vote?

With local District, Town and Parish elections just two weeks away, there is some important information to be aware of.

The election takes place on Thursday 4 May, but Tuesday 25 April is an important deadline for two things.

If you don’t have valid photo ID with you at the polling station, you will not be able to vote.

You can check the valid forms of ID How to vote : Photo ID you'll need - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) and if you don’t have one of those have, you will need a Voter Authority Certificate Apply for photo ID to vote (called a ‘Voter Authority Certificate’) - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk). You have until 5pm on 25 April 2023 to apply for that.

The deadline for new applications to vote by proxy also falls at 5pm on 25 April, you can apply here: Proxy votes | Arun District Council but please be aware that those proxy voters will need a valid form of their own photo ID to vote on your behalf.

Poll cards have been issued and it is important that voters check the details of the polling station carefully as that may not be their usual location.
