Lashmar play area to get a new lease of life

Lashmar play area to get a new lease of life Following public consultation last year, new equipment will soon be installed at Lashmar play area in East Preston.

The outdated equipment is to be replaced by a range of new items that will better challenge older children, as well as retaining equipment suited to younger children.

We received designs from four play companies for the improvements and Kompan Ltd.’s idea was chosen. Its design has a range of new equipment including a large junior climbing unit, inclusive roundabout, basket swing and play panels. In addition, new safety surfacing will be installed to ensure the play area is more accessible.

Most of the funding for the improvements is from the ADC capital play budget (£34K) and the rest is contributions from developers (£16K).

Cllr David Edwards, Chair of the Environment Committee, said: “We’re really excited to see this work get underway as we were very impressed by the design that Kompan Ltd. submitted which will transform this popular play area into one with something to offer all ages and abilities. This play area is just one of many across the district that the council is improving as part of our play area improvement works.”

The work to upgrade Lashmar play area is set to start after the Easter Holidays.
