Jellyfish on our shores
Our Foreshores Officer, Charlie Thwaites, came across a compass jellyfish on Climping Beach this morning - there have been a few sightings of jellyfish locally in the last couple of weeks.
We just want to make people aware, and to keep an eye on your dogs.
They only have a mild sting but avoid touching these beautiful creatures and admire them from a distance.
If you happen to get stung follow the NHS guidelines:
- Rinse the affected area with seawater
- Remove any spines from the skin using tweezers or the edge of a bank card
- Soak the area in very warm water (as hot as can be tolerated) for at least 30 minutes – use hot flannels or towels if you cannot soak it
- Take painkillers such as paracetamol or ibuprofen
