It's Net Zero Week (1 to 7 July 2023)

Net Zero Week 2023 Its Net Zero Week from 1 July 2023 ... but what does that mean?

Net Zero considers the amount of greenhouse gases being emitted, with action taken to reduce this impact. Emissions are still being generated, but reduced as much as possible, and they are offset by equivalent removals elsewhere, resulting in a neutral overall impact on the climate.

The term ‘carbon neutral’ refers to carbon neutrality primarily focused on offsetting CO2 emissions.

Net Zero has been adopted in the UK and other nations as the best strategy to protect us and the natural world from rising global temperatures. Net zero is often regarded as a more ambitious target than carbon neutrality. It requires not only offsetting emissions but also actively reducing emissions and adopting sustainable practices to transition to a low-carbon economy.

Why not make a start this week in committing to sustainability and reducing your carbon footprint?

As part of our Net Zero Week, can you think of a way you can reduce your environmental impact? Here are a few sustainable choices we can easily make in our daily lives.

1.     Reduce energy consumption – switch off appliances when not in use.

2.     Shift to sustainable travel – where possible, choose to walk, cycle or use public transport.

3.     Minimise waste and embrace recycling – cut down on single use plastics, and recycle as much as you can.

Lots of small actions can have a larger impacts - remember, every step counts towards a cleaner and more sustainable future.
