Have your say on Local Development Order - 03 08 15

Arun District Council is asking for your views on a proposed Local Development Order for sites within Enterprise Bognor Regis – a strategic employment site north of Bognor Regis.

A Local Development Order (LDO) allows a local planning authority to introduce permitted development rights on specific sites and removes the need for further planning permission for certain specified forms of development.  It assists occupiers and developers by simplifying and speeding up the planning process and reducing planning application fees.

The LDO sets the parameters for permitted development such as size and type of use of buildings, planning conditions and a design guide to ensure the quality of building meets the aspirations of Enterprise Bognor Regis, the premier business location in coastal West Sussex.

Cllr Mrs Gillian Brown, Leader of Arun District Council and Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration, said: “The Council wants to encourage investment and development in Arun. We are committed to supporting the creation of more jobs in the district and an initiative such as a Local Development Order on one of our key employment sites will ensure we hasten and de-risk the planning process for new businesses, funders and developers.”

The LDO area is 23 hectares in total and includes three separate land parcels known as; Salt Box, Oldlands Farm and Rowan Park. The LDO allows for the development of 52,000 square metres of floorspace on these sites for a variety of business activities including office, industry and warehousing.

The Council is inviting comments from the public on the draft LDO until Thursday, 10 September 2015.
