Get a cosier home with the Warmer Homes Programme

Warmer Homes Arun District Council has been awarded funding to help low-income families tackle energy inefficiency.

If your home is not heated by mains gas, grants are now available to help you to lower your energy bills and keep your home warmer this winter.

As part of a consortium of 23 local authorities, Arun District Council has been successful in securing funding from the Government’s Home Upgrade Grant (HUG) to offer fully funded energy saving improvements to your home.

These could include insulation, air source heat pumps and solar PV panels.

The Warmer Homes Programme is now being rolled out across Arun for low-income residents living in homes that are heated by electricity, oil, coal or Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).

Wondering if you’re eligible? Key criteria includes:

  • Your home is not heated by mains gas (e.g. you use electric, oil, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) or coal
  • Your Energy Performance Certificate Rating is D, E, F or G (if you don’t know this, we can tell you)
  • You have a household income of £31,000 or under, or you receive a means tested benefit.

Councillor Sue Wallsgrove, Chair of the Environment Committee at Arun District Council, said:

“We would encourage anyone on a low income who uses electric, oil or LPG etc. to heat their home, to check their eligibility for this grant. The funding will allow Arun residents living in energy inefficient homes to get improvements done that will not only reduce their fuel costs, but also reduce their carbon footprint, so it’s a win-win situation.”
