If you live in a flood risk area it is a good idea to have an emergency 'grab' bag ready before you need it.

There is much to consider in what to put in it, depending on your circumstances.

• documents – including insurance documents, certificates
  and passports
• electricals – mobile phone and charger
• finance – emergency cash and credit card

Children’s essentials
• milk and baby food
• sterilised bottles and spoons
• nappies, wipes and nappy bags
• clothing
• comforter/toy

Considerations

  • pen and paper
  • a wind-up or battery radio
  • physical list of emergency numbers, such as insurance, local council, emergency  services, family and friends
  • torch and batteries or a wind-up torch
  • blankets/sleeping bag
  • warm/waterproof clothing
  • wash kit containing essential items
  • non-perishable food
  • entertainment (board game/playing cards)
  • bottled water or water container
  • disinfecting wipes/hand sanitiser
  • first aid kit
  • pet food/pet carrier

Let all your family know where the bag is going to be stored.
