For voters in Arun, the Election timetable has begun. 20 March 2015 saw the publication of the Notice of Election for the District and Parish elections being held on 7 May 2015.

All 54 seats in the 23 wards of Arun District Council will be up for election on 7 May, together with all 269 seats across the 25 Town and Parish Councils within the Arun District. Polling day is on 7 May with counting of votes for these elections taking place on Saturday, 9 May. 

An election will only be held on 7 May if the electoral ward or parish area is contested because there are more candidates than the number of seats.  At the last District & Parish elections in 2011, all of the District wards were contested whilst only 17 of the parish areas were contested.

You can find out who will be standing for the District and Parish election after the close of nominations.  The Statement of Persons Nominated will be published on Arun’s website and at the Arun Civic Centre, Littlehampton and Bognor Regis Town Hall by 4pm on 10 April. 

Poll cards confirming voting arrangements will be sent to those already on the electoral register between 1 and 10 April.  If you aren’t already registered, your application to register to vote in these elections must be received by Arun District Council’s Electoral Registration Officer, Nigel Lynn by 20 April at the latest. You can also change your voting arrangement to vote by post or at a polling station, as long as your application is received by 5pm on 21 April 2015. Nigel Lynn, Returning Officer, Arun District Council said “Your vote is vital. This is your chance to help to select the representatives who will make the laws and policies that govern how we live. I urge you to ensure you are registered to vote by following the guidelines on the Arun District Council website and to use your vote by going to a polling station or by registering for a postal vote, to make your voice heard.”  

This year, the District and Parish elections will also be combined with the UK Parliamentary election being held on 7 May 2015 when electors will also be voting for a Member of Parliament to represent the Bognor Regis & Littlehampton; Arundel & South Downs; and Worthing West constituencies within the Arun District.  Information on the Parliamentary candidates standing for election will be published after 5pm on 9 April.
