Draft conservation areas consultation

Draft conservation areas consultation

Arun District Council wants to hear your views on two draft conservation area character appraisals in Bognor Regis.

The draft appraisals have been prepared for the Bognor Regis Station Square Conservation Area and the Upper Bognor Road and Mead Lane (Hotham Park) Conservation Area.

Conservation area character appraisals identify what is special about a conservation area and therefore what makes it worthy of protection, along with what detracts from them and could be enhanced.

The information in the appraisals can help to advise householders, property owners and developers when considering proposals within these conservation areas. They will also help the council in determining planning applications, advertisement and Listed Building Consent, as well as its pre-application service.

Councillor Gill Yeates, Chair of the Planning Policy Committee at Arun District Council, said: “This is an important piece of work that will highlight the value of the two conservation areas – why they are special and what more could be done to enhance them. So, we would encourage anyone with an interest in these areas to take part in the consultation as your views will help to shape their future.”

The public consultation will run from Thursday 18 July to Thursday 15 August 2024 and can be viewed here from the launch date https://www.arun.gov.uk/conservation-areas

Paper copies of both appraisals can be viewed at Bognor Regis Town Hall and Bognor Regis Library.

Once the consultation period has finished, all comments received will be reviewed and the appraisals amended where needed. Once amended, the appraisals shall be adopted for use by the council’s planning department.
