Did you know? Our Beach Patrol team are back!
It’s so good to see that our fabulous Beach Patrol team are back for 2024, making sure that everyone who visits the beach is safe and has a lovely time, returning home happy and wanting to come back soon.
The Beach Patrol officers are there to help you with any questions, hand out free child wrist bands to assist with reuniting families and provide first aid, if required.
They also ensure the Arun District Council byelaws for the seashore and promenades are adhered to – these are in operation from 1 May 2024 to 30 September, each year. The byelaws help the public have a safe time, in addition to looking after our wonderful coastline. Read more here: Byelaws | Arun District Council
The team provide search services for lost children and adults along our beaches, and sometimes work alongside the emergency services to save lives. They take in lost and found items along the beach, logging each item, with the hope of reuniting people with their belongings. They also monitor and look after the wildlife on our seashore and give daily tide times, wind, and weather forecasts. And so much more!

In a separate note, please can we remind everyone that you are not allowed to remove shingle from the beach – it is a criminal offence. The shingle is not for your gardens but is essential to our coastal defences and the upkeep of the environment for our wildlife.
