Did you know? ... it’s only six days until the UK Parliamentary General Election
Are you ready to vote next week? Here are some things you need to know:
- polling stations open at 7am and close at 10pm. Please check your poll card to find your allocated polling station – sometimes there is more than one in your area
- you can see who is standing for election in your area here: Statement of persons nominated, notice of poll and polling stations - July 2024 | Arun District Council
- don’t forget you will need to take valid photographic ID or a Voter Authority Certificate (VAC), this is a government requirement, and you cannot vote without it. Full details can be found here: Accepted forms of photo ID | Electoral Commission
- on polling day, you can hand deliver postal votes to the polling station, but please note that a returns form will need to be completed with a staff member or your vote won't count
- by law, you can only hand in your own postal vote, and those of up to five others
- the count will take place overnight on 4 July 2024
Please use your vote – it is an important way to participate in politics. Elections ensure that democracy is being upheld, because we, the electorate decides who gains power.
