Did you know? How to report criminal damage?

Text: Did you know? How to report criminal damage? Image in the background has a turquoise blue base and shattered glass above.Regretfully, we continue to see vandalised play equipment across our district, with some areas targeted more than others. The cost of replacement parts including high delivery charges affects us all, as well as depriving local children of enjoying our parks.

Since the upgrade of Longbrook Park play area in Bognor Regis, we have seen the private ship set on fire, which had to be replaced. Further damage was done, with the flagpole on the new ship being broken, the corner seat damaged and the metal climbing ladder broken.

At the Larksfield skate park, at Middleton-on-Sea, ramps have been deliberately broken and have been rewelded several times. Last month someone removed all four clamps from the zip wire, which proved dangerous.

Anti-social behaviour and criminal damage frustrates the majority of law-abiding citizens - it impacts our enjoyment, creates a sense of unfairness and is a financial burden.

We need your help please:

  • if you see anyone causing criminal damage, please call the police on 101
  • if you find any of our play equipment damaged, please report it us, by calling 01903 737500, or email parks@arun.gov.uk with photos of the damage, if possible

We want everyone to enjoy the many free facilities our play areas offer.

There are many play areas within the district that we do not own, but if reported, we will be happy to redirect the information.
