Did you know? How our Arun Wellbeing team can help you
Our Arun Wellbeing team is here to support Arun residents improve their health and wellbeing by helping you and your family to get more active, eat more healthily, or simply improve general wellbeing. This is a free service.
By making these kinds of lifestyle changes you can reduce your risk of developing cardiovascular disease, stroke, Type 2 diabetes and other preventable conditions.
Whether you want to lose weight, give up smoking, drink less alcohol, or get more active, our free services can help you improve your health.
When our clients set goals, we encourage them to make their goals SMART - Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and have a Timeframe. For example, rather than setting a new year's resolution as 'I want to walk more', you might say: 'I will start to walk for half an hour, four times per week. I will walk on Monday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 7am before I get ready for work or going out. I will walk two circuits of my local park. I will review my goal in three months' time. I can then look at increasing the distance I walk or the speed I walk if I need'.
According to a recent YouGov survey, the top five new year's resolutions set for 2025 are predicted to be:
- doing more exercise or improving my fitness (56%)
- saving more money (49%)
- losing weight (45%)
- improving diet (42%)
- spending less time on social media (21%)
(as a % of those making a New Year resolution)
Arun Wellbeing can offer support to anyone wanting to make healthy lifestyle changes as part of their new year's resolution - we can give free nicotine replacement therapy to help you stop smoking, offer 1-2-1 or group support if weight loss is on your list or offer free support or activity classes if you will be joining the 56% of people aiming to do more exercise in 2025.
Why not book a one-to-one session with one of our advisers to see if there are areas where you could make small changes to boost your health? The team can also visit workplaces, to support employee health, for free!
