Did you know - about the Sussex Air Alert service?

Text: Did you know? About the Sussex Air Alert Service. SUSSEX-air. Arun District Council logo top right corner. A blurred background image of the sky and leavesThis is a free service which sends messages directly to vulnerable people informing them about air pollution levels.

It aims to help people who have conditions which are aggravated or made worse by high pollution levels and is a useful alert for carers of the elderly and parents of young children.

Sussex Air Alert:

  • Provides a free warning when air pollution levels are high, helping those with health conditions such as asthma, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), heart disease, emphysema or angina, to take preventative action
  • can help you plan and continue with your day-to-day activities when air pollution levels are high
  • helps give you confidence to manage your condition and to understand how your condition is affected by air pollution
  • enables you to sign up for location-specific alerts via email, text or voicemail, which will specify pollutant type
  • sends warnings 24 to 48 hours before elevated air pollution episodes
