Council offers reassurance on parking extension plan

Council offers reassurance on parking extension plan Following the announcement that Arun District Council is extending town centre disc parking from two hours to three hours in some Bognor Regis and Littlehampton car parks, we can confirm that due process was followed in making this decision.

Having seen reports on social media that the council were not in agreement with the proposed extension, it seems that an internal miscommunication meant incorrect information was issued before the correct processes had been followed.

The Council has now followed the agreed procedures and are pleased to support the extension (from 1 August through to Christmas 2020) for parking in key car parks in Bognor Regis and Littlehampton.

Dr James Walsh, Leader of the Council said: “It is unfortunate that an internal misunderstanding created confusion for our businesses and residents. We are sorry for any inconvenience that caused. Retail and hospitality are vital to our district and we are very much focussed on doing all we can to encourage visitors to our town centres to enjoy shopping, visiting cafes and restaurants and helping our small business community to thrive again.”

Discs for the free parking schemes are available from all the usual outlets in Bognor Regis and Littlehampton. They can be used in the following car parks: Hothamton, Fitzleet and Lyon Street in Bognor Regis, and St Martins, Anchor springs, Manor House in Littlehampton. Discs should be set as usual for the time you park your car.
