Council begins Ford Masterplan Consultation

Arun District Council has received a Masterplan Document for the strategic development site at Ford (SD8) and is asking for members of the public to submit their views.
The Masterplan includes a vision for the site and how the proposals will deliver a high quality and sustainable place. The Masterplan illustrates how the proposals have evolved over time through previous community engagement and highlights important factors that will need to be considered as part of future planning applications. The development site will deliver at least 1,500 dwellings before 2031 and associated infrastructure, including a new local centre with a primary school.
The Council is seeking residents’ views on the Masterplan Document prior to it being presented to the Development Control Committee for endorsement on 3 February 2021. Subject to endorsement, a series of planning applications would then be required to deliver the scheme. These applications would need to be in line with the approved Masterplan.
The consultation will run from 9am on 14 December 2020 until 5pm on 14 January 2021. Comments should be submitted to Arun District Council via https://arun-consult.objective.co.uk/kse. We are aware that it is not ideal to consult over the Christmas period so we have extended the consultation to allow additional time for comments to be submitted.
Cllr Martin Lury, Cabinet Member for Planning said: “The Ford Strategic Development site was allocated in the adopted Arun Local Plan. This Masterplan Document seeks to deliver 1,500 homes towards the Council’s requirement for 20,000 dwellings before 2031, along with associated infrastructure. The Masterplan Document seeks to set the Principles upon which future planning applications will be based.”
