Charter Plus gives young people the skills to succeed - 24th March 2015

The Arun Developer and Partner Charter Plus is an agreement designed to involve companies and individuals in the regeneration projects taking place in the local area.

One of those to benefit from this is Luke Arnold who has been working for Austin Builders.

The 23-year-old has recently helped the Bognor Regis-based company with the construction of 52 affordable homes in Littlehampton Covered Market in Terminus Road, Littlehampton.

Luke, of Hotham Gardens, Bognor Regis, said: “I would recommend the Charter Plus initiative and I think people would enjoy it.

“I have learnt a lot of useful skills which will no doubt benefit me in the future.”

During the building of the flats and houses in Littlehampton, Luke was the banksman of the crane, which meant he directed the crane’s swing.

Miriam Nichols, Business Development Manager at Arun District Council, said: “Arun Developer and Partner Charter Plus really helps young people gain valuable skills and businesses implement good practice as well as providing contracts for companies that might not be able to access these opportunities in any other way.

“It helps communities develop in the right way and aids the local economy too.”
