A new and improved ‘Beach on the Beach’ is open again on Bognor Regis seafront after proving to be a real hit last summer.

The large sandpit is a free activity opposite Place St Maur that became home to many a great sandcastle last season, but has been under wraps during the winter.

It has been unveiled again after Council monitoring showed that on average, around 160 people made use of the facility last year on its busiest days.

As it was so well used last year, Arun District Council has doubled the size of the play area and provided some play equipment for children to use, as well as providing seating so parents can relax and watch the fun.

Councillor Terence Chapman, Cabinet Member for Environmental Services at Arun District Council, said: “Beach on the Beach was a trial project and due to its popularity, we’re delighted to be opening an extended and improved play area again this season.

“It provides a safe and secure area for young children to enjoy Bognor Regis beach, so bring a bucket and spade and see what you can create!”
