BBQs and fires - not permitted on our beaches!
Thinking of enjoying our summer weather with a BBQ or fire by or on the beach? These are NOT permitted on our beaches, so bring a delicious picnic or support your local take-away and have fish and chips instead.
BBQ areas are provided on green spaces adjacent to the beaches in Littlehampton and Felpham, where the appropriate large metal BBQs with fire bins attached are in place for public use. Fires can spread quickly and become dangerous, harming people and damaging property.
Our beach patrol officer has recently found severe burn marks on a groyne at Felpham Beach, not only is this criminal damage, but groynes are also extremely expensive, and the people who burnt this groyne have accelerated the deterioration of this coastal protection.
