Arun beaches retain their Seaside Awards for 2023 again!

Beach Awards 2023 Littlehampton’s Coastguards Beach and Bognor Regis’ East Beach have yet again won Seaside Awards (resort/bathing) for the 2023 bathing season.

As the authority responsible for the day-to-day running of the popular beaches, we were delighted to hear the news. The flags have been flying for a little while now, but on Friday Vice Chair of the Council, Cllr Dr James Walsh, Leader of the Council, Cllr Matt Stanley, Cllr Billy Blanchard Cooper and Cllr Bob Woodman, enjoyed a trip to the seaside to celebrate this achievement with an official flag raising ceremony. They were also delighted to meet children from River Beach Primary School in Littlehampton.

The flag is a symbol of quality which ensures visitors are guaranteed to find a clean, safe, attractive and well-managed coastal area. The awards celebrate the quality and diversity of England’s coastline. This award is not related to water quality.

Cllr Matt Stanley, Leader of the Council said :

“Full credit goes to the hard work and pride of everyone involved in maintaining the two beaches to such a high level, including the foreshores manager and team, beach patrols, volunteers, the Biffa street cleaning team and residents. The council are in regular communication with Southern Water about the water quality issues in the area, but these awards really do reflect just how much people care.

Staycations continue to be popular, so these awards serve to illustrate how much Arun has to offer anyone looking for a UK holiday destination in 2023 and recognise the facilities on offer, the foreshores employees and all the work they do to make your time on and near the beach enjoyable.
