Arun Visitor Strategy 2023-2028
In March 2023 we asked Blue Sail to conduct a thorough consultation with a wide range of stakeholders and partners that began the process of developing how the visual tourist economy strategy will be managed from 2023 to 2028.
Our vision is that Arun district will become a more connected and unified place. It will be a place that makes it easy for visitors to explore and enjoy the unique mix of attractions that define this corner of Sussex. By showcasing our iconic towns, attractions and natural assets, we aim to boost tourism, which in turn will help our local economy, bring our community together, and promote sustainable practices, boosting the district’s reputation as a great place to live and invest in, as well as visit.
This strategy outlines our plan for the next five years to enhance the district’s visitor experience. It's based on thorough research and input from our partners, stakeholders, and local businesses, as well as alignment with local, regional, and national policies.
The strategy focuses on a number of carefully chosen actions, building on the area’s strengths and the market opportunity. This includes our vision for the visitor economy, identifying promising markets and prioritising interventions for future growth We've also considered the resources available to us as we plan these actions. In our role of strategic enabler, partnership working will be key for delivery and recommendations for this are set out along with targets and measures to track progress
The final recommendations were presented to the council for approval in November 2023

Over the next 2 years they researched, analysed proposals, and performed a public consultation on our current leisure and culture provision.
Their final recommendations were presented to the council for approval in May 2013.
