How your Council Tax is spent
We collect Council Tax from over 78,000 properties in our district. We give a share of the Council Tax collected to West Sussex County Council for services such as education, child and adult services, the Fire Service and libraries. Sussex Police also receive a share of the money we collect. Where town and parish councils charge an amount for local services we add this to the bill.
Our share of the bill is about 10% of the total charge and we use this for services such as bin collections, keeping streets clean and looking after local parks and green spaces.
Every residential property in England receives one Council Tax bill no matter how many people live there.
