Arun business growth and start up grants 2022
General information and scoring
Two grants will be available from mid July. To be considered applicants must meet the following criteria:
- be an Arun based business with a trading address in the district. Home based businesses can apply. Voluntary and charitable organisations are excluded from these grants
- employ less than 25 people in total across any sites, regardless of location.
- not have received a Business Growth or LEAP Grant from or via Arun District Council since June 2020. Covid support grants do not exclude businesses from applying
Start up grants
These grants are for businesses that are ready to start and need equipment or similar items to do so or businesses that have been trading since January 2021. Grants are up to £1,000 and no match funding is required.
Business growth grants
These grants are for more established businesses. Grants are for a maximum of £1,500 and 50% match funding is required. For example, if your project is £8,000 in total you can apply for the maximum £1,500 in grant funding. If your project is £2,000 you can apply for £1,000.
Business Growth Grants will open for one month. Following that all applications will be assessed according to the scoring matrix below. If funds remain the grant application process will be re-opened.
What you can and can’t use a grant for.
Grants can be used for:
- equipment and machinery
- consultancy services
- premises improvements
- new IT systems or IT system upgrades
- moving all or part of your business online
- leadership and management development
Grants cannot be used for:
- staff salaries
- backdated expenses, for example to repay loans
- to pay existing sub-contractors
- building or construction costs
- premises rental
- other general running costs, such as purchasing materials or stock
- paying VAT

Only one application per business, across all rounds can be made.
The decision you are advised is final, there is no appeal process for either grant.
