Flooding in Aldwick

We are aware of flooding at Fish Lane and Aldwick Avenue in Aldwick following the storm last night.

The road has been closed by West Sussex County Council as it is impassable.

Southern Water have assessed the site and suggest that the flooding is due to a blocked outfall. The responsibility for the outfall is under investigation at present.

However, we know that it is important to resolve the issue and we have a representative on site. They are awaiting a contractor who will assess the outfall and clear the shingle if it is safe to do so. Because this is in the intertidal zone, it makes clearance more complex.

It is unclear if the blocked outfall is the only cause of the flooding. Once the outfall has been cleared, further assessment will be made.

We are working hard to help as much as possible and will provide further updates when they are available.
